Akron Police seize weapons, make arrests following traffic stop.

Akron Police seized weapons from a vehicle during a traffic stop at Copley and Diagonal Roads around 10:50 p.m. Patrol officers found two handguns with extended magazines and an AR-15-style pistol, all loaded and accessible to the driver and passengers. The 22-year-old driver was without a valid license and driving under suspension. The passengers were two males, 16 and 18 years old. The driver and 18-year-old passenger were charged with weapons-related offenses and booked into Summit County Jail. The 16-year-old was arrested on a weapons charge and taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Facility. The Akron Police Department recovered 456 firearms so far this year through various methods, including traffic and investigative stops.
