New Book Explores Feminist Art Club History

Staff Report / ROClocal.org

A new book from RIT Press sheds light on the history of the Atlas Ceramic Art Club, which was part of the feminist movement. The club included women artists who focused on abstract "conventional" painting styles. For over three decades, these artists showcased and sold their work at yearly shows at The Art Institute of Chicago. The book, titled "Women, Enterprise, Craft Chicago's Atlas Ceramic Art Club 1893-1923" is authored by Sharon S. Darling.
