Georgetown Fire Department Urges Residents to Prepare Kits

Staff Report / GTXlocal.org

The Georgetown Texas Fire Department is emphasizing the importance of emergency preparedness. They encourage residents to build an emergency kit to ensure safety during unforeseen events.

The recommended checklist includes essential items to have on hand. This includes one gallon of water per person per day, non-perishable food, a manual can opener, medications, medical equipment, and a first aid kit. Additionally, sturdy shoes, seasonal clothing, baby and pet supplies, personal hygiene items, sunscreen, insect repellent, and toilet paper should be included.

Other important supplies are tools, a flashlight, a NOAA Weather Radio, extra batteries, identification, important documents, and small bills. Residents are advised to plan for at least three days of self-sufficiency and to keep a 3-7 day supply kit at home, along with smaller kits in vehicles and at work.

The fire department stresses that now is the time to start planning and gathering necessary supplies.
