Career Fair Connects Alumni with Employment Opportunities

Staff Report / laxlocal.org

The Corps to Career Alumni Career Fair was held at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College and brought together over 200 attendees, including Chief Deputy Jessica Ku Kim from the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity. The event aimed to connect California Service Corps Alumni with potential employers in the public sector and other high-road industries.

More than 20 employers participated in the fair, offering representatives a chance to meet with qualified candidates, showcase their organizations, and even extend job offers on-site. This initiative is part of Los Angeles County's commitment to prioritize Corps members for County job opportunities, having signed onto the Corps to Career program earlier this spring.

Attendees received assistance from the Department of Economic Opportunity and the Department of Human Resources in navigating the LA County job application process. They learned how to create profiles on hr.lacounty.gov, search for job openings, and connect with various entry-level programs, including the Administrative Internship Program, Management Fellow, Student Worker, Veteran Internship Program, County Youth Bridges Program, and PLACE.

To participate in job fairs and access opportunities through Corps to Career, individuals must be current members and create a Campground profile. More information can be found at https://www.californiavolunteersfund.org/corpstocareer.
