**Celebrating Other Avenues: A Legacy of Food & Community**

The San Francisco Public Library is hosting an event titled "Celebrating Other Avenues: A Legacy of Food & Community" on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM. The event will take place in the Latinx Community Room at the Main Library, located at 100 Larkin Street, San Francisco, CA 94102.

This event marks the 50th anniversary of Other Avenues Grocery Cooperative in the Outer Sunset. Attendees will hear from Shanta Nimbark Sacharoff, an author and advocate for cooperatives, along with Celia LoBuono Gonzalez, a co-owner of Other Avenues. They will discuss the history of the grocery cooperative, which began in the 1970s and has continued to thrive in its community.

Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy homemade chai from Shanta and baked goods from Arizmendi Bakery. The event aims to bring together entrepreneurs, community advocates, and food enthusiasts for an afternoon of inspiration and connection.

In addition, the organization invites attendees to their 50th Anniversary Celebration at Ocean Beach on October 19, featuring a full day of music, food, and fun.
