Santa Clara Launches Free Fire Safety Education Program

Staff Report / SantaClaritalocal.org

The Santa Clara Fire Department has introduced the Firefighters In Safety Education (FISE) program in collaboration with the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF). The AARBF is a non-profit organization focused on burn prevention education and improving the lives of burn survivors and their families.

FISE aims to provide free burn prevention and fire safety education to elementary school students. Firefighters from the Santa Clara Fire Department launched the program at Don Callejon School in 2019. Before the introduction of FISE, there was no formal fire safety education program in Santa Clara. The department's objective is to reach every elementary school child in Santa Clara with this education every year.
