The City of Akron, Ohio, has shared guidelines for its glass recycling program. Residents are encouraged to recycle the following acceptable glass items:

- Glass food jars

- Spirit bottles

- Wine bottles

- Beer bottles

- Champagne bottles

- Non-alcoholic beverage glass bottles

However, certain items should not be placed in glass recycling bins. The following items are not acceptable for glass recycling:

- Windows

- Mirrors

- Light bulbs

- Solar panels

- Heat-resistant glass such as Pyrex

- Drinking glasses

- Computer or TV screens

- Ceramics

- Vases
