Today marks Italian-American Heritage and Culture Day in Akron. In observance of the holiday, all municipal offices are closed. However, there will be no delays in trash and recycling pickup during the week of October 14-18.

On June 29, 2020, the Akron City Council passed Resolution No. 184-2020, designating the second Monday in October as a day to honor the history, culture, and contributions of the Italian-American community in Akron and Summit County.
