Memorial Services Scheduled for Officer Brad McNew
Staff Report / jaxlocal.org
Memorial services for Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Corrections Officer Brad McNew have been scheduled to honor his memory. A private viewing for family, friends, and fellow officers will occur on the evening of Monday, October 21.
The memorial mass will take place at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 22, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church located on Old St. Augustine Road in Jacksonville. Following the mass, there will be a procession to Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Cemetery, where tributes will include a 21-gun salute and a flyover.
Officer McNew's family has expressed gratitude for the extensive community support during this time and has requested that the memorial mass be limited to family, friends, church members, colleagues, and first responders. However, the public is invited to show their respect by lining the sidewalks around the church.
Officer McNew served for 24 years and is survived by his wife, Elda, and son, Liam. He was actively involved with St. Paul’s Catholic Church and St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church choirs, and he dedicated much of his free time to the Fletcher High School Marching Band.
