Manufacturing Symposium Explores Northeast Ohio's Economic Impact

Staff Report / Akronlocal.org

Manufacturing plays a crucial role in the economy of Northeast Ohio, accounting for nearly 50% of its economic activity. According to the Greater Akron Chamber, one out of every two jobs in the region, spanning various sectors including factories, restaurants, and banks, relies on the manufacturing sector.

To highlight the significance of manufacturing, the Manufacturing Symposium: The Ripple Effect of the Polymer Industry on the Future of Manufacturing, Talent, and Workforce in Northeast Ohio is set to take place as a virtual event. This symposium is held in partnership with MAGNET: The Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network and coincides with Manufacturing Month.

The event will focus on the history of polymers in Greater Akron, the region's recent designation as the Sustainable Polymers Tech Hub of the U.S., and future prospects. Insights will be shared by Dr. Ethan Karp, CEO of MAGNET, the ConxusNEO workforce team, and various local manufacturers, discussing the impact on manufacturing and workforce resources.
