World AIDS Day Event in Akron December 1

**World AIDS Day Event Scheduled for December 1 in Akron**
Akron will host an event for World AIDS Day on Sunday, December 1, 2024. The event will take place in the Main Library Auditorium from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Yaa Simpson, representing the Chicago Department of Public Health. A panel discussion will follow, featuring four experts:
- Dr. Amy Hite, specializing in HIV and PrEP at Summa Health
- Shaleeta Washington, MPH, Director of Family Health at Summit County Public Health
- Lillie Jackson, MSW, LSW, from the Greater Akron-Canton Association of Black Social Workers
- Gizelle Jones Thornton, LISW-S, a Clinical Social Worker
Attendees will have access to free, confidential AIDS testing on-site.
The event is free to the public, with seating offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Free parking will be available in the High Street parking deck during the weekend.
