**City of Akron to Launch Comprehensive Use of Force Policy Review**

Mayor Malik of Akron, Ohio, has announced the next steps in the city’s initiative to review its use of force policies. The city plans to collaborate with the law firm Paul, Weiss and 21 CP Solutions, a consulting group specializing in policing practices, to facilitate a detailed examination of the Akron Police Department's policies.

The review will focus on the following areas:

- Use of force policies and related procedures

- Training programs associated with these policies

- Accountability systems

- Community perceptions regarding public safety

On Monday, December 16, Mayor Malik, alongside Council President Margo Sommerville and Ward 4 Councilmember Jan Davis, will introduce legislation to Akron City Council to officially authorize this partnership.
