Akron, Ohio - On the morning of October 31, 2023, the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), led by U.S. Marshals, arrested 32-year-old Matt Walker in Akron, Ohio. Walker was wanted by the Akron Police Department for multiple offenses, including felonious assault, domestic violence, strangulation, and parole violations.

The charges relate to a drive-by shooting that took place on October 22, 2023, on the 300 block of West Miller Road in Akron. In the incident, a woman sitting on her porch was struck by gunfire. She suffered serious injuries but survived.

Walker, who was under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for a prior firearms-related offense, was taken into custody at a residence on the 1100 block of Becker Lane in Akron. The arrest occurred without any incidents. Law enforcement also recovered a 9mm untraceable handgun during the operation. Walker has been transported to the Summit County Jail.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott commented on the arrest, emphasizing the importance of removing violent offenders from the community. “A dangerous and violent fugitive, with no regard for the Akron community and its citizens, is now behind bars,” Elliott said.
