**Akron Police Department Edges Out Fire Department in Annual Battle of the Badges Basketball Game**

Akron, Ohio: During halftime at last night’s Akron Zips Men’s Basketball game, the annual Battle of the Badges basketball match took place, showcasing a spirited rivalry between the Akron Fire Department (AFD) and the Akron Police Department (APD). In a closely contested game, the APD team secured victory over the AFD squad.

Despite the loss, Deputy Chief Scott Pascu of the Akron Fire Department emphasized the event's purpose beyond just the final score. “Events like this are about more than just the final score—they’re about coming together, having fun, and supporting our Zips. We couldn’t have done it without all of you, and it means a lot to see how much support we have from our AFD family and the community. We’ll get them next year!”

The game was part of a shared tradition celebrating the camaraderie between local first responders and the Akron community. Both teams were cheered on by attendees who showed strong support for the friendly competition.

The Akron community looks forward to seeing this event continue year after year, fostering goodwill and unity among the police, fire departments, and local residents.
