**Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Northern Ohio**
The National Weather Service has reported that Northern Ohio, including the Greater Akron area, is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 4 a.m. Friday. Residents in Akron and surrounding communities should brace for extremely cold conditions over the next few days.
There is a 95% probability that the real-feel temperature Monday night into Tuesday morning will reach at least -15 degrees, with wind chills potentially dipping as low as -25 degrees. Sub-zero temperatures are expected to persist through Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service has warned that conditions could worsen further, with severe cold advisories possible on both Tuesday and Wednesday due to the dangerously low temperatures.
Akron Police have shared recommendations for preparing for the extreme weather. Residents are encouraged to stock up on essentials such as food, water, medications, and first aid kits. Additional supplies like flashlights, batteries, a weather radio, rock salt, and shovels are also suggested in anticipation of potential snow and ice.
If travel is necessary during the advisory, it is important to ensure your vehicle is ready for the conditions. Akron Police advise filling your car with gas and antifreeze and keeping emergency items such as blankets, extra clothing, road flares, food, and water in your car.
Stay alert and prioritize safety during this hazardous weather period. For updates and additional resources, check local weather reports and community alerts.
