**City of Akron Observes Martin Luther King Jr. Day with Office Closures and Service Adjustments**

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, all municipal offices in Akron, Ohio, are closed today, Monday, January 20. Additionally, there will be no curbside trash or recycling services provided. Trash and recycling collections will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21, and will follow a one-day delay for the remainder of the week, with services concluding on Saturday, January 25.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day honors the life and legacy of Dr. King, a prominent leader in the Civil Rights Movement who worked to address and combat racial injustice in America. As part of the reflection on this day, the statement from Akron's Mayor's Office encourages remembering Dr. King’s contributions and recommitting to addressing injustice.

Residents are reminded to plan accordingly for both office closures and adjusted service schedules.
