Dangerously Cold Temperatures Expected in Colorado
Staff Report /
**Dangerous Cold Grips Colorado Monday Night**
The National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder has issued a low-temperature alert for Monday night into early Tuesday morning, as temperatures are expected to plummet across the region. The forecast calls for dangerously cold conditions, with locations throughout the state experiencing subzero lows.
Mountain valleys are bracing for the coldest temperatures, with Estes Park, Granby, and Kremmling expecting lows of -36°F, while Lake George could drop to -28°F. Communities such as Walden are forecasted to hit -31°F, and Breckenridge and Vail are projected to see temperatures as low as -17°F.
Front Range cities and towns will also face extreme cold. Denver is anticipated to drop to -8°F, with Boulder seeing -6°F. Fort Collins and Greeley are forecasted to experience -14°F and -17°F, respectively. Eastern plains towns aren't spared, as Burlington (-10°F), Limon (-12°F), and Akron (-11°F) also face dangerously cold air.
Meteorologists warn that wind chills could make it feel even colder in many areas, creating potentially life-threatening conditions for those unprepared. Residents are urged to take appropriate precautions, including limiting time outdoors, dressing in warm layers, and protecting pets.
The frigid temperatures are expected to moderate by tomorrow. Stay tuned to local updates and stay safe during this period of extreme cold.
