**Akron Fire Department Hosts Inspector Update Event**

The Akron Fire Department in Akron, Ohio recently teamed up with the State Fire Marshal’s Office to organize a 3-day Inspector Update session. This event was held to ensure that all department inspectors, whether stationed on the line or in the bureau, are up-to-date with the latest changes and developments in fire code enforcement standards.

The training sessions highlighted new and revised standards designed to enhance community safety. Representatives from the State Fire Marshal’s Office, including Alan Smith (Bureau Chief of Code Enforcement), and inspector instructors Ken Berlin, Aaron Hemmelgarn, J. Schuster, and Greg Otting, led the updates. Key figures from the Akron Fire Department's Inspection Bureau also participated, including Deputy Chief Mike Alexander, Captain Dennis Shumaker, Lieutenant Jeff Layne, and Chief Leon Henderson.

A special acknowledgment was given to retired Captain John Morrison and his company, 1-800BOARDUP, for generously providing coffee and doughnuts for attendees throughout the three days.

This collaboration between local and state fire authorities reflects a commitment to staying informed and maintaining safety standards for the Akron community.
