**Driving Schools of Ohio Offers Partial-Tuition Scholarships for APS Students**

Students in Akron Public Schools (APS) now have the opportunity to apply for partial-tuition scholarships provided by Driving Schools of Ohio. The program, funded through the Drive to Succeed initiative, is designed to support students in obtaining their driver’s education and enhance road safety among teens.

A total of 15 scholarships will be awarded to APS students, reducing the cost of tuition to just $50 per selected student. The scholarships are available to active APS students between the ages of 15.5 and 18 who are in grades 10 through 12.

To qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

1. Have their driver’s permit before the start of classes.

2. Complete a short application with a Statement of Need.

3. Commit to completing pre- and post-questionnaires if selected for the program.

**Class Details and Deadlines**

There are two upcoming sessions available for participants:

- **Session 1**: Application deadline is February 17, with classes running from March 3 to March 13 at East Firestone.

- **Session 2**: Application deadline is March 17, with classes running from March 31 to April 10 at Garfield North.

Classes will take place from Monday to Thursday each week between 3:30 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. The program includes 24 hours of classroom instruction, 8 hours of in-vehicle driving practice, and 50 hours of in-car experience (including 10 nighttime hours) with a parent or guardian.

Priority will be given to students within their home school, but those from any APS school are encouraged to apply.

To apply, students must use their APS student email account and complete the application by the deadline. APS officials emphasize the importance of having all documentation ready before submitting.

For additional details or to apply, students can use the designated application link or QR code provided by the school district.

This initiative is another step towards helping young drivers safely navigate Ohio's roads. Don’t miss this chance to gain valuable driving experience!
