**Ray Dove: A Trailblazer in Akron's Tire Industry**

Akron, OH - Ray Dove made history as the first Black chemist to work in Akron's tire industry, beginning his career at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 1946. His groundbreaking entry into a traditionally segregated field marked a significant step in diversifying the tire industry during the mid-20th century.

Born in Akron, Dove's impact extended beyond his work in the scientific community. His daughter, also born and raised in Akron, achieved success in the literary world, breaking barriers much like her father.

Dove’s contributions to both his industry and his community are recognized, especially during Black History Month, as Akron celebrates local trailblazers who have shaped its history.
