**Tax Season Alert: Don’t Miss Out on Valuable Credits**

Akron Public Schools is spreading the word about important tax credits that can make a significant difference for working families during tax season. Eligible workers earning under $66,819 could qualify for the **Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)**, which offers up to $7,830 for those with qualifying children and up to $632 for those without.

The exact value of the credit depends on factors like marital status, income, and the number of children claimed. Individuals must meet specific requirements to qualify, including:

- Being a U.S. citizen or resident alien for the entire year.

- Having earned income from work.

- Possessing a valid Social Security number issued by the tax return deadline.

- Having no more than $11,600 in investment income.

- Meeting additional standards, such as not filing Form 2555 for foreign income or being a qualifying child of another person.

Claiming the **EITC** requires filing a federal income tax return, even for those who owe no taxes or wouldn’t otherwise file.

Additionally, families with children under 17 should explore the **Child Tax Credit (CTC)**, which provides support to those raising children. For parents working or actively seeking employment, the **Child and Dependent Care Credit** can help offset childcare expenses.

Akron Public Schools urges community members to check their eligibility for these tax credits. These resources could provide financial relief, helping families pay their bills or save for the future.
