**Severe Cold and Lake Effect Snow Impact Western New York**

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued warnings for dangerous winter weather in Western New York. A **Lake Effect Snow Warning** and **Winter Weather Advisory** are in effect through Wednesday morning, as intense cold and significant snowfall continue to impact the region.

### WEATHER HAZARDS

Forecasters warn of an **intense lake effect snow band** stretching across central Lake Ontario, affecting areas including northern Cayuga and southern Oswego counties this evening. Overnight, the snow band is expected to shift south, potentially impacting northern portions of Niagara to Wayne counties.

Residents should prepare for extremely cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills, with the risk of frostbite and hypothermia in exposed skin. Those in the affected areas are advised to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and dress warmly in layers if venturing outside.

The National Weather Service advises continuing to monitor weather updates as conditions may change rapidly throughout the night.
