Geneva Weekend: Fireworks, Music, IRONMAN Challenge
Geneva is hosting a busy weekend of events. On Friday, July 11, YMCA Summerfest will begin with activities from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. A fireworks show is scheduled at 9:45 p.m. from Long Pier, with a rain date set for Saturday, July 12. Also on Friday, live music will be provided by The Bob Greco Band from 6:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
The Farmer’s Market will run on Saturday morning, July 12, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center. Attendees can purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, handmade items, and more. Limited parking is available at the Welcome Center; extra parking is provided on the lawn between the Welcome Center and a nearby hotel, with the entrance off E. Castle Street.
Saturday evening offers a downtown experience with local shops, dining, and the Annual Firefighters Parade at 7 p.m. Later, the Rec Center will host the second evening of Summerfest, featuring live music, games, and activities for all ages. Live music on Saturday will be provided by Dos Locos from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
On Sunday, July 13, the IRONMAN 70.3 Musselman event will take place. Motorists are advised to be cautious and mindful of the athletes during the race.
Additional activities at the Geneva Rec Center, located at 666 Exchange Street, include a Chicken BBQ from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and free live concerts. A huge food tent set up in the parking lot across from the Rec Center will offer seating for 150 people. Attendees can also take advantage of a free shuttle bus service provided on Friday and Saturday from the Finger Lakes Community College Parking Lot on Putney Street, across from Desale High School. The event offers free admission and free parking, with many games, raffles, and moon bounces held indoors at the Rec Center. A new addition to the festivities is the “Dare to Enter: The Haunted Dark Maze.”
