New York Flood Watch Issued Amid Heavy Rain

The National Weather Service in Buffalo, NY has issued a Flood Watch that is in effect from 11 AM EDT this morning until late tonight. The forecast covers portions of central and western New York, including counties such as Monroe, Wayne, Ontario, Allegany, Livingston, Ontario, Lewis, Northern Cayuga, and Oswego, among others. Cities affected include Rochester, Newark, Fair Haven, Oswego, Lowville, Geneseo, Canandaigua, and Wellsville.

A slow-moving cold front is expected to approach Western and North Central New York today, with showers and thunderstorms likely to develop. Rainfall rates of around 1 inch per hour or more are possible from repeated storms, which may lead to flash flooding. Areas with rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying regions could be impacted by excessive runoff and flooding.

Residents are advised to monitor weather forecasts and stay alert for any Flood Warnings. Those in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action if flooding develops.
