Healthy Soil Essential for Proper Septic System Function

Wake County Government in Raleigh, North Carolina reported on World Soil Day that healthy soil is essential for a well-functioning septic system. Wastewater from homes is directed to the drainfield, where the soil naturally filters out harmful bacteria and viruses. The soil also removes nutrients and pollutants, helping to protect groundwater and nearby streams and ensuring that the septic system operates effectively.
