Dove Block Project spotlights McCondichie, Stephens artworks in Geneva

GENEVA, N.Y. — The Dove Block Project is presenting artworks by Robin B. L. McCondichie and Jean K. Stephens that explore interconnectedness and expressions of their inner worlds through soft pastel and mixed-media collage. A common thread across the works is the use of layered materials and expressive color, creating a unique visual presentation.

Robin B. L. McCondichie’s current body of work explores dimensional qualities achieved through layering colors to capture a sense of an inner universe. She has developed a visual language to convey a personal inner life, experienced yet concealed—a nonverbal observation expressed in visual terms. Her work aims toward vulnerability, asking whether there can be exposure to the mysterious expanse of the unknown while continuing to welcome a conversation with what is presented.

Jean K. Stephens’s mixed-media collages convey a narrative of personal and spiritual interconnectedness. The expression of her feminine perspective continues to be an important aspect of her work. Sacred symbols appear on richly textured surfaces, which often incorporate hand stitching, a nod to her ancestors.

The opening reception on March 6 will feature music by Dr. Erik Gibelyou, a guitar instructor and performing artist living in Geneva, New York. He believes that music enhances life through its powers of expression, benefits to mental health, and ability to grow a community. His solo classical guitar recitals present thematic programs performed with superb technique and enriched by thoughtful commentary.

Support for the opening reception is provided by Billsboro Winery, Black Crow Bakery, and Lake Drum Brewing.
