Hobart and William Smith Colleges student wins $10,000 pitch contest

GENEVA, N.Y. — David Charles II, known as Duke, a student in the class of 2027 at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, won the Todd Feldman ’89 and Family Pitch Contest, the college said.

Charles won $10,000 to fund his business The Wave, an app connecting shoppers with emerging streetwear brands focused on ethical and sustainable production.

Finalists Nicholas Jones, class of 2026; Virginia Ritchay, class of 2028; and Tru Styles, class of 2027, delivered standout pitches in front of a standing-room-only crowd that included Todd Feldman, class of 1989.

Alumni judges Sabrina McKee Budd, class of 1989; Alan Worden, class of 1987; and Chris Zoladz, class of 1981, supported the event and the student entrepreneurs.
