Akron Delays 2025 Leaf Removal Over Winter Weather
The City of Akron announced delays in the 2025 leaf removal schedule due to winter weather. Crews had not finished all planned work in Ward 8 yesterday and are moving gradually across different wards. Work in Ward 1 is now underway. Leaf pickup in Ward 2 is rescheduled for Monday, December 8, and Ward 9 is set to begin on Friday, December 12. Original pickup dates were December 3 for Ward 1, December 6 for Ward 2, and December 10 for Ward 9. Weather conditions may cause further changes to these dates.
Crews are expected to work on all 10 wards, with plans to return for a second pickup in Wards 3, 5, 10, and 6, weather permitting. Signs will be posted in those neighborhoods before the second visit. Crews will not be able to cover every ward a second time, but the City is accepting service requests through 311. In these cases, crews will address the requests later in the season if weather permits.
