Just after midnight on Sunday, June 2nd, the Akron Police Department received multiple calls reporting shots fired in the area of Kelly Ave. and 8th Ave. This led to 25 gunshot victims, with one person tragically losing their life. The investigation is ongoing with limited information about suspects or victims at this time.

Mayor Malik and Chief Brian Harding expressed shock and sorrow over the senseless violence, urging the community to come forward with any information to help bring those responsible to justice. Authorities emphasize the importance of preventing further violence and retaliation by cooperating in the investigation.

To assist in the case, individuals can provide information anonymously by contacting the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2Tip. Other avenues for sharing information include Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS, texting TIPSCO to 274637, using the Akron PD app to submit details through texting Tips411, or visiting www.AkronCops.org.
