A patron at CLP-Sheraden in Pittsburgh has introduced the library's new official pet, Chocolate the Cat. The introduction of Chocolate the Cat was made known through a post on Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's social media platform. The library patron expressed excitement for everyone to meet Chocolate the Cat, using cat and chocolate emojis to depict the new library pet. Additionally, the library shared a folklore fact related to cats, mentioning the start of Cat Nights on August 17. The folklore fact explained the superstitions around witches and their association with cats, with an old Irish legend suggesting that a witch could transform into a cat eight times before losing the ability to return to human form on her ninth transformation, which coincided with August 17. The folklore fact also connected to the saying "A cat has nine lives."
