**Austin ISD Sets New Targets for College and Career Readiness**

Austin, TX – The Austin Independent School District (AISD) has announced new goals aimed at increasing the percentage of 11th and 12th grade students eligible for college credit. The target is to raise the current eligibility rate from 48.2% in June 2024 to 53.8% by June 2029. This represents a 12% increase over the five-year period.

To achieve this goal, AISD has considered various factors including all items requisite for college credit. These include passing grades in dual credit classes, OnRamps courses, achieving scores of 3-5 on Advanced Placement (AP) exams, and scores of 4-7 on International Baccalaureate (IB) exams.

The district plans to develop long-term strategies to ensure that the majority of students attain at least one college-eligible credit. Growth targets for specific student groups will range from 5% to 25% over the five-year period, with year-to-year increases expected to be steady and evenly distributed.

This information was shared during a Board of Trustees Information Session focused on student achievement. The session took place on September 12, 2024, at 7:00 PM. It was made available to the public via the AISD website and local television channels.
