Students Learn About Severe Weather and Careers

Severe weather encompasses a range of dangerous weather events that can cause significant damage, including tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, hail, damaging winds, blizzards, and ice storms.
In the West Ada School District in Meridian, Idaho, meteorologist Sophia Cruz from Idaho News 6, KIVI, visited the third-grade classes at Barbara Morgan STEM Academy. During her visit, she spoke about STEM career opportunities in meteorology and emphasized how weather and climate affect daily life. The students learned about the importance of math, social studies, science, and reading in predicting weather events to help mitigate their destructive impacts.
