NYC Faces Drought, FDNY Responds to Brush Fires

In October, New York City experienced one of the driest months on record. Since October 20, the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) has responded to over 120 brush fires throughout the five boroughs. In response to these conditions, the city has issued a drought warning.
The FDNY is sharing tips to help prevent brush fires, including the proper disposal of used matches and cigarettes in a closed container or cup of water, and ensuring that lighters and matches are kept out of reach of children.
The FDNY is also showcasing one of its specially equipped units designed to handle brush fires.
