Kittens Seeking Homes: Foster or Adopt Today!
Staff Report / PHLlocal.org
**Kittens in Need of Homes at PAWS**
Four pairs of kittens are currently available for fostering or adoption at the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). These kittens have been housed in the shelter's ringworm ward due to a mild fungal infection that affects their skin. They have been under medical isolation for nearly a month while receiving treatment.
The kittens are from the same litter and are seeking new homes where they can complete their treatment and begin their new lives. PAWS is providing all necessary tools and medications for those who choose to foster or adopt these young cats. Interested individuals can email foster@phillypaws.org with the subject "ringworm kittens" to receive more information.
Ringworm is not actually a worm, but rather a fungal infection that typically presents as small patches of hair loss in pets. While it is contagious to both people and pets, PAWS recommends that individuals fostering the kittens provide a separate room to prevent the spread of the infection during treatment. The expected duration for the infection to clear up is 4-8 weeks, and the kittens are already several weeks into their treatment process.
PAWS offers twice weekly "dip days" at their Grays Ferry clinics for fosters or adopters, where they can bring the kittens in for medicated baths, eliminating the need for at-home bathing during treatment.
