Geneva Police: Officer Resigns Amid Drug Sale Probe

On May 9, 2025, the Geneva Police Department confirmed that Officer Michael Tapscott, a 13-year veteran, was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation and arrest by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office. Officer Tapscott submitted his resignation on May 6, 2025, before charges were filed. He faces charges of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree and Official Misconduct in connection with the sale of Dextroamp Amphetamine, a form of Adderall.

In addition to Officer Tapscott, two other Geneva Police Department personnel have been placed on administrative leave while a criminal investigation is underway by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office. The Geneva Police Department will also conduct its own internal administrative investigation regarding these matters.

City officials stated their commitment to working with law enforcement and ensuring transparency throughout the ongoing investigations.
