New Mexico Braces for Strong Wind Warnings
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued strong wind advisories and warnings for parts of New Mexico. Strong winds are expected tonight in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the highlands of east-central and northeastern New Mexico.
The advisories and warnings are in effect from 3 PM Wednesday until 9 AM Thursday (MDT). The forecast calls for sustained winds of 30 to 45 mph, with gusts between 55 and 65 mph coming from the northwest.
A Strong Wind Watch covers the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the highlands of east-central and northeastern New Mexico, and Guadalupe County. A Wind Warning applies to the Sandía-Manzano Mountains, Paso Ratón, Union County, Harding County, and portions of San Miguel County.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to secure loose objects as these gusty winds could cause damage.
