Ithaca Revises Tax Payment Mailing and Postmark

The City of Ithaca is reminding property taxpayers that the payment mailing address on the tax bill is now different. Mailing payments should be sent to:

Ithaca Tax Collector

PO Box 206

Ithaca, NY 14851-0206

In-person payments can still be made at the City’s Chamberlain’s office located on the 1st floor of City Hall at 108 E Green St or by using the drop box near the front door.

Additionally, a new USPS Postmark Rule went into effect on December 24, 2025. The rule now defines the postmark as the date when the USPS processes the mailed item, not when it is initially received. This change may lead to later postmark dates if payments are dropped off late. Taxpayers are advised to mail payments several days in advance or use a hand-stamped postmark at a post office to avoid any potential penalties due to delayed postmarks.
