Richardson to Speak at Hobart and William Smith 2026 Commencement
GENEVA, N.Y. — Dame Louise Richardson, president of the Carnegie Corporation and former vice chancellor at the University of Oxford, will serve as the 2026 Commencement Speaker for Hobart and William Smith Colleges, the school said in a release. Richardson will also receive an honorary degree and the Elizabeth Blackwell Award for her leadership in expanding access to higher education and her scholarship on terrorism and foreign policy.
HWS will also award honorary degrees to:
- Lillian E. Collins, a longtime member of the HWS staff, mentor to students on campus and community advocate
- Rev. Thomas P. Mull, who has served as a priest in the Finger Lakes for nearly 50 years
- Lt. Gen. John “Jack” L. Woodward Jr. ’68, a 35-year Air Force veteran and three-star Lieutenant General
