Los Angeles Warns of Extreme Heat Dangers

Staff Report / LAXlocal.org

The City of Los Angeles has released a warning about extreme heat being the main climate hazard in the area. To stay safe in the summer heat, it is advised to keep cool, stay hydrated, and be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion. It is important to take breaks in the shade and be prepared for heatwaves which are becoming longer, more frequent, and more dangerous. Those most at risk include outdoor workers, people who are active outdoors, infants, children, pregnant women, elders, and people with chronic illnesses such as asthma, heart disease, and diabetes. Pollution-burdened areas are especially vulnerable to excess hospitalizations and deaths. For resources on cooling centers, shade spots, and alerts, visit www.climate4la.org/heat-relief-4-la to prepare and protect yourself for heat season. Let's work together to beat the heat and stay safe.
