EDC of Sarasota County Hosts Successful Annual Meeting

Sarasota, FL - The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County (EDC) held its 2024 Annual Meeting with 400 attendees, showcasing achievements in diversifying and growing the local economy.

During the event, Fredrick J. Piccolo, President and CEO of Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), was honored as the 2024 Clyde Nixon Business Leadership Honoree. This award recognizes individuals in Sarasota County who exemplify the values demonstrated by Clyde Nixon, former Chairman of Sun Hydraulics.

A panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Larry Thompson, President of Ringling College of Art and Design. Panelists included Rick Severance, President of Wellen Park Florida; Vladimir Ljesevic, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of CMPSE; and Dr. Alex Beavers, Chief Innovation Officer at Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium. They shared insights on the future of technology, real estate, and the Blue Economy.

The EDC thanked attendees and sponsors for their support.

Presenting Sponsor for the event was Brown & Brown Insurance, while Helios Technologies, Inc. sponsored the Clyde Nixon Honoree recognition. Ringling College of Art and Design was responsible for the Ringling Innovation Panel. The event also featured a media partnership with Business Observer and dessert sponsorship from Michael Saunders & Company. The Bank of Tampa sponsored valet services.
