Free Workshops Help North Port Residents Gain Skills

The Social Services Division in North Port is offering "Skills for Life," a series of free evening workshops aimed at helping residents improve their job market viability and financial stability. The workshops are available to residents aged 16 and up.

The available sessions include:

1. **Budgeting Workshop**: This two-hour session will focus on organizing personal expenses and income. Participants will learn about the cash envelope system, how to plan for expected and unforeseen expenses, and useful savings tips. This workshop is partnered with Family Promise of South Sarasota County.

2. **Interview Skills Workshop**: This one-hour session will teach participants about effective interviewing techniques, including how to answer common interview questions. It will conclude with individual mock interviews. Attendees will also be encouraged to dress professionally for the interview. This workshop is in collaboration with the United Way of South Sarasota County.

3. **Resume Building Workshop**: This workshop will cover how to craft a standout resume that captures the attention of potential employers. Participants will learn what essential information to include and how to present it effectively. Additionally, participants can schedule a one-on-one appointment with a Life Skills Specialist upon completion of the workshop. This program encompasses two sessions.
