Charlotte Mobilizes Support After Hurricane Helene

Staff Report / cltlocal.org

In response to Hurricane Helene, the City of Charlotte is mobilizing its departments to assist affected areas in North Carolina.

Charlotte Water is actively involved through the North Carolina Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (NCWaterWARN). The team is providing two 24-inch butterfly valves, which are essential for restoring drinking water service in Western North Carolina.

Additionally, staff from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) are traveling to Asheville to support airport operations, ensuring that critical transportation links in the region are maintained.

Emergency services are also stepping up. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the Charlotte Fire Department have sent personnel to impacted regions. Their roles include maintaining public safety and responding to emergency situations.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the relief and recovery efforts. For more information specific to Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, updates are available from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management Office. Those interested in helping can visit the official recovery link at http://cltgov.me/recovery.

Photos from the organizations involved are provided to document their efforts.
