**School Bus Safety Week Observed October 21-25, 2024**
Watkins Glen, NY – The Watkins Glen Central School District is observing School Bus Safety Week from October 21 to October 25, 2024. This initiative emphasizes safety in school zones and the importance of school bus safety for students.
As part of the campaign, the district is urging community members to remain vigilant in school zones and near bus stops. Key safety tips include reducing speed when approaching a school bus with yellow flashing lights, which indicates that the bus is about to stop, and educating others on the importance of stopping for school buses to help protect children.
The district expressed gratitude towards the transportation crew who ensure the safe transport of students to school and sporting events throughout the varying weather conditions in New York. The district also thanked drivers on the road for their attentiveness and for adhering to safety protocols, particularly the need to stop for school buses when their signals are activated.
Watkins Glen Central School District encourages all members of the community to practice these safety measures and support a safe environment for students during this important week.
