The City of Fort Worth is encouraging residents to recycle more effectively this November through the "Rethink Waste Fort Worth" initiative led by Environmental Services and Keep Fort Worth Beautiful. Residents are reminded to crush plastic bottles and screw the lids back on before recycling them. This practice helps reduce space in recycling bins and ensures proper processing.

The city provides curbside recycling services for various types of plastics, which include:

- Accepted items: Beverage bottles, drink cartons, food tubs, detergent bottles, and toiletry bottles.

- Not accepted items: Trash bags, plastic grocery bags and wraps, hoses, cords, wires, and any trash.

The initiative aims to address the issue of improperly discarded plastics, which not only result in missed recycling opportunities but also contribute to litter in local roads, greenspaces, and the Trinity River.

For more information on acceptable recycling items, residents can visit fortworthtexas.gov/solidwaste. Additional resources include the COFW Recycling App, which can be downloaded for ongoing recycling updates and guidance.
