**Akron Celebrates National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day**

AKRON, OH — February 15 marks National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, a time dedicated to recognizing the vital role School Resource Officers (SROs) play in schools and communities.

The Akron Police Department underscores the contributions of SROs, stressing their function as a bridge between youth and law enforcement. SROs are instrumental in schools by embracing a triad concept of policing—focusing on informal counseling, educational roles, and law enforcement responsibilities.

These officers play a pivotal part in fostering positive relationships with students while supporting the broader communities they serve.
