**Jerry Rowland Honored for Lifetime Contribution to Akron Youth Sports**

Jerry Rowland, a prominent figure in Akron's youth sports community, has been celebrated for his nearly 45 years of dedicated service. Rowland, who served as a Recreation Supervisor, played a key role in advocating for youth sports and had a lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals in the city.

Rowland supervised the Ed Davis Community Center and spent years coaching young athletes, fostering both their athletic and personal growth. A standout athlete himself, Rowland was a three-time City Series scoring champion during his time at Buchtel High School in the 1960s. His exceptional contributions to sports earned him a spot in the Buchtel High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.

As a tribute to Rowland’s enduring legacy, the gymnasium at the recently renovated Ed Davis Community Center has been renamed in his honor. The dedication reflects the lasting impression he made on the community and solidifies his place in Akron's history.
