Wake County in North Carolina has received a nearly $1 million grant from the North Carolina Department of Information Technology to extend high-speed internet access to 144 homes and businesses that were previously unserved. This project is part of a series of broadband initiatives that will deliver high-speed internet connectivity to more than 4,300 locations across the county.

In total, Wake County is set to benefit from over $18 million in combined public and private investments in broadband infrastructure. The initiative supports the county's strategic plan to reduce barriers to employment by increasing access to digital resources.
