On September 11, 2023, the Spartanburg community held a memorial event to honor those lost during the attacks on September 11, 2001. Attendees gathered to pay tribute to both first responders and civilians who made sacrifices on that day.

The event featured guest speakers from the Spartanburg Police Department, Spartanburg High School, as well as the mayor and city council members. City staff and local citizens also participated, showing their support for the remembrance activities.

The event aimed to honor the legacy of those who lost their lives and to maintain a spirit of unity and strength within the community. The sentiment shared throughout the gathering emphasized the importance of remembering the heroism displayed on that tragic day.
