WEDI Launches Programs for English Language Learners

Staff Report / Buffalolocal.org

The Westminster Economic Development Initiative (WEDI) announced its ENERGY and FLY programs, designed for English language learners in grades 1-8. These programs offer academic support five days a week, along with enrichment activities including music, art, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).

The ENERGY program caters to students in grades 1-5, while the FLY program focuses on grades 6-8. Participants will receive one-on-one mentorship for younger students and group reading sessions for middle school learners. Additionally, the programs include field trips and peer support to help students build confidence and foster a sense of community.

Parents interested in enrolling their children can contact Elayzia Hernandez at 716-393-4088 or via email at ehernandez@wedibuffalo.org. Those looking to volunteer with the initiative can reach out to WEDI at info@wedibuffalo.org.
