Ladder Truck 9 Relocates to New Akron Fire Station
Staff Report / Akronlocal.org
The Akron Fire Department is set to move Ladder Truck 9 to the newly built Fire Station #12. This decision aims to improve fire coverage for Northwest and West Akron while addressing the double coverage that currently exists at its location on Dodge Avenue.
The relocation is based on a thorough evaluation of five key areas: community risk assessment, geographic coverage, operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety enhancements. Fire department leadership believes that this move will enhance service for residents, leading to improved operational efficiency and response times, as well as a better Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating.
The newly constructed Station #12 will allow Ladder 9 to cover a larger area, ensuring more effective fire protection for the community. The fire department emphasizes that safety is its top priority, and this adjustment reflects that commitment. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for Fire Station #12 will take place very soon, marking an important development for the Akron Fire Department and the city.
